PARIS, March 1 (People's Daily Online) – Reported by SHANG Kaiyuan. On February 28, during the 62nd Salon International de l'Agriculture (SIA), the International Academy of Food and Medicinal Plants (IAFPH) signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the University of Cape Verde to co-establish a joint laboratory unit. José Arlindo Fernandes Barreto, Rector of the University of Cape Verde, traveled to Paris specifically to attend the signing ceremony and co-sign the agreement with IAFPH representative FENG Shixing.

Following established partnerships with Henan Agricultural University and Henan University of Chinese Medicine, this marks the first African university to formally join the research platform. The expanded cooperation framework establishes a "France-China-Africa" trilateral collaboration mechanism supported by the Paris headquarters and partner universities in China and Africa. This provides a new pathway for international cooperation in global agricultural science, traditional medicine, and the "Medicine and Food Homology" sector, effectively translating the "One Planet, One Health" concept from an initiative into practice.

During the expo, the IAFPH hosted a symposium titled "One Planet, One Health: Food as Medicine and Plant Resource Utilization" at the China Pavilion. The seminar was chaired by Jean-Yves Moisseron, Research Director at the French National Research Institute for Sustainable Development (IRD) and Honorary President of the IAFPH, with the attendance of CHEN Guosheng, Agricultural Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in France. Scholars and experts from Cadi Ayyad University (Morocco), the Senegal Academy of Sciences, the Inter-State School of Veterinary Sciences and Medicine (EISMV) in Dakar, Université Paris Cité, and Henan universities engaged in discussions on topics including black soldier fly utilization, food nutrition, medicinal plant research, and resource environment.
