Introduction

International Academy of Food and Phytomedicine Homology

About Us

The International Academy of Food and Phytomedicine Homology (IAFPH) is an international non-profit scientific research institution registered in Paris, France. Grounded in an integrated perspective of food, plants, health, and ecosystems, IAFPH is dedicated to promoting the synergistic development of human, animal, and environmental health.

While centering its core focus on "Food and Medicine Homology" (Food as Medicine), IAFPH does not define this concept narrowly within traditional medicine or functional foods. Instead, it approaches the field as a comprehensive scientific and governance philosophy that connects food systems, health systems, and ecosystems. Within the framework of "One Planet, One Health", IAFPH focuses on the following interconnected core areas:

  • Systemic Interconnections: Exploring the systemic linkages between human, animal, and ecological health.

  • Coupling Relations: Investigating the coupled relationship between food systems, medicinal plant utilization, and sustainable ecology.

  • Knowledge Transformation: Facilitating the rational transformation of traditional medicinal knowledge into modern scientific frameworks and global health governance.

  • Linkage Mechanisms: Examining the interactive mechanisms linking climate change, biodiversity conservation, and health risks.

IAFPH maintains that food and medicinal plants serve not only as resources for health intervention, but also as vital components of ecological and cultural systems. Research into "Food and Medicine Homology" encompasses nutrition and disease prevention, while fundamentally extending to land use, ecological conservation, agricultural systems, animal health, and social equity.

Scope of Work

IAFPH’s operational scope spans the entire value chain from foundational scientific research to industrial application. The Academy focuses on international collaborative research and industrial synergy across the following key sectors:

  • Medicinal Plants and Natural Products: Conducting research on active ingredient extraction, functional validation, and safety evaluations of plants sharing food and medicinal uses.

  • Veterinary Medicine, Feed, and Animal Health: Developing natural plant-based feed additives and veterinary alternatives to advance antimicrobial reduction and alternative technologies under the "One Planet, One Health" framework.

  • Food and Functional Nutrition: Developing innovative food products based on modern nutritional science, with a particular focus on dietary fiber, natural antioxidants, and specialized dietary needs.

  • Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices: Assisting partners with preclinical research for plant-derived pharmaceuticals, and providing technical assessments for related analytical and engineering equipment.

  • Market Access and Regulatory Compliance Consulting: Providing multi-jurisdictional regulatory environmental assessments and technical solutions to navigate Technical Barriers to Trade in the international trade of food, pharmaceuticals, and related products.
