Also attending the inauguration ceremony were Jean-Pierre Armand, former President of the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO); Thomas Pavie, former Deputy Agricultural Counsellor at the Embassy of France in China; Ju Liya, a France-based biomedicine expert and Visiting Professor at Beijing University of Chinese Medicine; Bernard A. Zako, former Programme Officer at UNESCO; Océan Caen, Business Development Manager France at Han’s Health United; Xie Tian, Executive Associate Publisher of Europe Times; Yang Zhiming, Secretary-General of the International Academy of Food and Phytomedicine Homology (IAFPH); Dr. Feng Shixing, Director of the Paris Traditional Medicine Cultural Center and a postdoctoral researcher in traditional Chinese medicine; as well as traditional Chinese medicine practitioners and enthusiasts from both China and France.
In his remarks, Zhong Cheng stated that the Paris Traditional Medicine Cultural Center will continue to promote three core principles in the future. First, ancient traditional medicine remains closely connected to modern life and addresses the health issues of greatest concern to today’s urban populations. Second, the center respects the cultural diversity of traditional medical systems around the world and will foster health dialogue among different civilizations with an open and inclusive approach. Third, with traditional Chinese medicine as its central point of entry, the center will highlight both the practical value and the cultural richness of traditional medicine, enabling it to truly enter everyday life.
Dr. Feng Shixing, Director of the Center, noted that unlike spaces devoted solely to cultural display or medical treatment, the Paris Traditional Medicine Cultural Center has innovatively developed a dual model combining public cultural education with immersive, real-world experience, allowing the public to appreciate the appeal of traditional medicine in a relaxed setting.
Rather than relying on dry theoretical instruction, the center enables the public to experience the warmth and practical value of traditional medicine through seasonal wellness education, herbal culture displays, hands-on experiences of characteristic therapeutic methods, and interactive exchange and sharing.
It is understood that the Paris Traditional Medicine Cultural Center strictly follows the World Health Organization’s definition of traditional medicine and upholds a core philosophy of diversity and inclusiveness, seeking to move beyond narrow understandings of traditional medicine.
In its initial stage of operation, the center will give priority to three core public-oriented services. All of them are guided by the principles of serving non-emergency and non-severe conditions and not replacing hospital-based diagnosis or treatment, with a focus on daily health maintenance and lifestyle guidance.
