Yu Wang

Dr. Yu Wang is an Associate Research Fellow and Master’s Supervisor at the Institute of Acupuncture and Moxibustion, China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences. He graduated from Beijing University of Chinese Medicine with a major in Acupuncture, Moxibustion and Tuina, and received his Doctor of Medicine degree in June 2017. He is a reserve academic leader of the High-level Key Discipline of Traditional Chinese Medicine designated by the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, namely Acupuncture Systems Engineering, and a core member of the National Multidisciplinary Innovation Team of Traditional Chinese Medicine focusing on acupuncture for the prevention and treatment of emotional disorders. He has long been committed to promoting the deep integration of traditional medicine with modern multidisciplinary science. In recognition of his outstanding achievements in the modernization of traditional medicine, he was named an Outstanding Alumnus of the School of Acupuncture, Moxibustion and Tuina of Beijing University of Chinese Medicine. By introducing systems engineering and multidisciplinary research approaches, he has made pioneering contributions to the scientific interpretation of traditional acupuncture within the context of modern medicine.
 
As a scholar with broad influence in the interdisciplinary field of acupuncture and brain science, Dr. Wang’s research focuses on three core areas: clinical and basic research on acupuncture for the prevention and treatment of neuropsychiatric disorders; acupuncture systems engineering from a multidisciplinary perspective; and the epistemological and methodological construction of cross-scale acupuncture research. In the international academic and scientific publishing community, Dr. Wang has demonstrated strong strategic leadership. He currently serves as Associate Editor and Managing Editor of the internationally recognized journal Gut Medicine. He has also been invited to organize special issues or thematic sections on “acupuncture–brain science/disease” in several leading international academic journals, including Current Opinion in Pharmacology, Current Neuropharmacology, Frontiers in Psychiatry, and Frontiers in Microbiology, thereby establishing high-level international platforms for academic exchange in this field.
 
With many years of dedicated scientific research, Dr. Wang has achieved substantial accomplishments in academic publication and research project management. He has served as principal investigator of one Young Scientists Fund project supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and has participated as task leader or key research member in several major national research programs, including three National Key Research and Development Program projects, one Key Program of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and one Key International Cooperation Program of the National Natural Science Foundation of China. As a productive scientist, he has published more than 120 academic papers in high-level journals in China and abroad. Among them, he has published 23 SCI-indexed papers as first author or corresponding author, including co-first or co-corresponding authorship, in leading international medical and neuroscience journals such as JAMA Network Open and Brain Stimulation. He has also served as editor-in-chief or contributor to five academic books. In addition, he has received five provincial and ministerial-level science and technology awards, including first and second prizes, such as the Beijing Science and Technology Progress Award and the Science and Technology Progress Award of the Chinese Association of Integrative Medicine. Owing to his outstanding academic contributions and broad peer recognition, he has been honored by leading international publishing groups with several prestigious academic distinctions, including “Wiley China Open Science High-Contribution Author” and “Elsevier China Golden Open Access Highly Downloaded Paper Scholar.”
