The Global AgriInno Challenge 2026 (GAC) is now open for applications from innovators worldwide, seeking innovative solutions globally. This year's challenge shifts its strategic focus toward accelerating the transformation of agrifood systems in Small Island Developing States (SIDS).
Co-organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), Zhejiang University, and Pinduoduo, this event marks the sixth edition of the competition. This edition places SIDS at the center of global agrifood innovation.
GAC 2026 is open to agri-entrepreneurs and start-ups from any country, provided that their solutions directly address the agrifood challenges faced by SIDS, or have already been applied within the SIDS context. GAC strongly encourages applications from teams originating from or led by nationals of SIDS.
Through a globally competitive screening process, 13 finalist teams will be selected. Among them, 5 slots are exclusively reserved for teams from the 12 SIDS participating in the FAO-China South-South Cooperation project, which include: the Bahamas, Barbados, Cabo Verde, the Comoros, the Cook Islands, Fiji, Grenada, the Maldives, Sao Tome and Principe, the Solomon Islands, Trinidad and Tobago, and Vanuatu.
All selected finalists will be invited to Hangzhou, China, in August 2026 for an immersive week-long program featuring expert workshops, investor matchmaking events, and the global final roadshow pitch to an international jury.
The ultimate winning teams will receive seed funding and secure a dedicated exhibition space at the FAO Science and Innovation Forum 2026.
