In 2026, the International Academy of Food and Phytomedicine Homology (IAFPH) invited partner institutions within its Joint Research Unit (JRU) network to submit proposals to the IAFPH Africa-China International Joint Research Program. A total of 20 applications were received in this round, all 20 of which proceeded to formal review following an administrative screening. In accordance with the Application Guidelines for the IAFPH Africa-China International Joint Research Program, relevant project management requirements, and expert review recommendations, and following deliberation by IAFPH, three Cultivation Projects were approved for funding. The first batch of funding decisions is hereby announced as follows.
I. First Batch of Funded Projects
II. Project Implementation and Management
This batch of projects will be implemented in accordance with the principles of tiered funding, phased implementation, process-based management, and results archiving.
Cultivation Projects are intended primarily to support preliminary collaborative research, refinement of research plans, team coordination, development of methodological frameworks, and the establishment of medium- to long-term cooperation frameworks. During implementation, project teams shall complete milestone tasks in accordance with the approved work plan and undergo project evaluations organized by IAFPH.
The specific implementation period, task arrangements, use of funds, and requirements for results management for each project shall be governed by the funding agreement and related management documents signed between IAFPH and the Host Institution.
III. Next Steps
Each funded project will proceed to project initiation and implementation. IAFPH, together with the relevant JRU partner institution, will confirm project tasks, refine implementation plans, and carry out subsequent project management. Stage evaluations will be organized based on project progress.
Research materials, interim outputs, and cooperation documents generated during project implementation shall be centrally archived in accordance with the project management requirements of IAFPH and the corresponding JRU.
